Dreams can come true

At first it sounds crazy… things don’t just fall into place...

But then I started to think over my own life, and how some dreams actually have come true already… the most obvious is my husband to whom I’ve been married for 7 years.

When I was 17, I created a “The perfect guy list”… I added to for 3 years before I even met the man I would eventually marry. Except for playing guitar and speaking French, every other of my (86!) items on my list came true!

Its like writing dreams down somehow helps you to recognize them when they come into your life.

When I really think about it–it is kind of miraculous. As much as I’ve changed since the age of 17… this “dream” list still represents my most important values–and still helps me recognize, in the face of daily hassles, kid-crises, and work stress–that my dream life-partner is my very own, real, flesh-and-blood husband.

I guess dreams can come true!

Beginnings

"Is it starting that's so damn overwhelming? or is it the Fear that once my Fantastic idea sees the Light of day it will no Longer inspire or delight me in the same way?" - Jen Lemen

So honest! I've told myself I was afraid to chase my dream for so long because I needed to really be ready for it... but when I'm really honest about it, I am afraid that if it becomes it real it might be less than expected. This dream I've held so tight for so long--what if it is crushed? What if it is not what I really wanted? What if I have held it tight for so long to keep control over it--what if it gets away from me?

It is a chance I have to take.

Wild and precious life

The Summer Day

Mary Oliver

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean-
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

Dreams as tools

"Your dreams are tools granted to you by your truest self to move you deeper into courage, vulnerability, openness, flexibility and trust...when these qualities are actively developed in our lives, doors open, magic happens and we become acutely aware of a kind of universal support that is actively conspiring on our behalf to both bless us and benefit others" - Mondo Beyondo course

What am I inviting into my life?

I'm taking an online course called Mondo Beyondo (see link on sidebar). And I'm thinking about what I'd like to invite into my life.

- I invite time to think about what brings me true joy and to seek it

- I invite trust in the process of following my dreams into a huge career change

- I invite focus on the journey ahead to take the place of revisiting what I’ve left behind

- I invite the joy of being present in each moment and noticing the small moments

- I invite opportunities to allow those I love to dream

- I invite opportunities for friendships–not to wait but to seize each moment

About this blog

I'm a working-mom-dreamer-crafter and wannabee doctor.

I live with two sweet & spunky kids (1 and 3 years old) and I'm married to a stay-at-home-dad-writer-chef-gardener-priest-to-be-hero-of-awesomeness.

We love to read, to explore outside, dig in the dirt, watch stars, build forts, bake bread, knit and sew, ask questions and find answers (when we can!).

Our lives are full of love, adventures & chaos--good times and bad, but in this space I'm choosing to focus on the wonder and the joy of everyday.

I'm transitioning to full-time stay at home mom in January--figuring out how to learn with a three year old while keeping a one year old entertained. Wish me luck!
